We specialise in live wedding performances and for a wide range of occasions and venues. Our Dunedin based wedding band have expertise in bluegrass music, love playing all manner of festivities, big or small and we have great experience in engaging crowds of all shapes and sizes.

Valley Bluegrass provide unique and memorable wedding experiences, by performing a blend of traditional bluegrass tunes and classic wedding anthems with a country twist. The band fosters a romantic and profoundly emotional atmosphere with our heartfelt tributes to the newly married couple by customising playlists to the needs of the individual wedding. We understand the uniqueness and importance of each individual wedding and we strive to create a memorable day by tailoring our performance to your preferences.

In our past wedding performances we have played bluegrass and traditional waltzes, classic dance songs like Tennessee Waltz and good old fashioned favourites such as Foggy Mountain Special. Whether you would prefer a strictly acoustic small set, a more ramped up amplified performance, or an honest country barn dance, we are well equipped to deliver a special performance. Weddings are amongst our favourite live gigs to perform and we would love to be a part of your special day.

We have performed at festivals all over the country, from smaller fetes to large scale national events such as the 2015 Winter Games in Queenstown and the 2015 World Peace Day concert at Forsyth Barr Stadium in Dunedin. Valley Bluegrass are an ideal addition to any festival lineup with great experience in being able to engage and excite a diverse range of crowds.

We play headline gigs most weeks all over Dunedin and surrounding areas. We have a solid following of locals who get down to our regular live performances at different Dunedin night spots. Coming down to a Valley Bluegrass show is a guarantee of a joyful and altogether exciting experience. We are regulars at Ombrello’s kitchen bar, the Fork & Tap in Arrowtown and the Dunedin Folk Club along with many other eclectic Dunedin venues.

For the last two years we have played live every second week at  Pequeno Lounge Bar. Pequeno is a chic wine and tapas bar in the heart of Dunedin with a laid back and cosmopolitan atmosphere. Our great success at this venue showcases the diversity of Valley Bluegrass’ capabilities and fan base.

Despite our local success we never want to give up regularly busking at the Otago Farmer’s market. As well as being the forum in which most of us began playing live music, it is also the platform in which we enjoy ourselves the most. We love being in a community environment and interacting with people on an up close and personal level, while also forging ongoing relationships in the broader community.
